PR Opportunities for Bloggers

This past summer, I submitted my first pitch to Romper, a popular mom blog that boasts over 350K likes on Facebook alone. A writer for Romper sent out a pitch, looking for stories from moms who realized the moment they were more than just a mother. The story was a part of a series posts sponsored by Baby Dove. I instantly jumped on the opportunity to respond. To my surprise, I was chosen!  Although it was an unpaid mention, which publicity sometimes is, it made me realize just how important it was to pitch to brands. Although I did not pursue pitching for a few months afterward, I kept my eye open for how I could turn those pitching opportunities into more publicity for myself. Keep reading to find out how to gain PR opportunities for bloggers.

Here’s Why You Should Nap at Work

Blah, blah blah. We’ve heard it before. For SOME strange reason, people believe that less sleep equals success. But in actuality, it means the opposite. Every day, without fail, I feel completely drained half way through the work day. There is no set time when it occurs, and food is not always a factor. I WANT TO NAP. At this point in life, I greatly envy my child, and everyone in pre-K and Kindergarten because they get to have nap time. Dear God, forgive me for all of the times I took nap time for granted. Unfortunately, taking a nap at work is a no-no; or so it seems. As if we millennials want another reason to be seen as lazy. However, in my college days, if I was facing a pressing deadline, or really needed to study, I would take a nap first. I always woke up feeling refreshed, and I’d crank out A (or B) quality work. My productivity soars after a refreshing nap. The question is simple, how do we get around being able to nap at work? Well, my friends, I am here to tell you why you should nap at work.

Why you should improve your social media profiles NOW

Are you a college student or a recent college grad? Are you looking for a job or an internship? You’ve come to the right place! These days, students and graduates are using social media as an entertainment outlet instead of a professional outlet. Time and time again, I’ve heard from potential employers, and current bosses about how they have looked at the social media profiles of a potential candidate. There are stories floating around about how students are getting kicked out of school for something that they posted online. That’s what makes this topic so critical. In 2015, I completed a mock public relations campaign about the do’s and dont’s of social media. I feel like now would be a perfect time to reiterate what I found. If you have not, now is the time to improve your social media profiles.

“Oh! The Places You CAN Go!” Advice for College Graduates

“You have brains in your head, you have feet in your shoes, you can steer yourself any direction you choose.” If you Google, “Advice for College Graduates” or “Quotes for College Graduates,” you’ll more than likely see this quote from Dr. Seuss. His book, Oh! The Places You’ll Go, is a classic book to give to high school and college graduates. As a matter of fact, I received this book as a gift when I graduated from high school. In every aspect, it is motivational, quirky, and chock-full of advice. That’s why it makes such a perfect grad gift. However, is it all that college grads need to hear to be prepared to enter the real world? My answer is “no.”

For the most part, we as young adults need all the motivation and confidence we can get to start the tedious task of hunting for jobs. But Dr. Seuss advice can only take us so far.
