5 Tips to Turn Your Day Around

Because I am NOT a morning person…

[dropcap custom_class=”wh”]I repeat. I am NOT a morning person! Just ask anyone who has ever lived with me, or worked with me, or is friends with me. Basically, just ask anyone. I am not a morning person. I think that is the main reason why I do not wear makeup to work. It is time-consuming. I am not ashamed to admit that I wake up in just enough time to wash up, put on neat clothes, and make sure my hair looks semi-decent. The makeup tho? Nah… Because I am not a morning person, any little thing in the morning will set me off, and basically, determine the rest of my day. Like, just don’t even talk to me before 11 AM. Therefore, it is very easy for me to have a bad, or not-so-good, day. I have been working on becoming a better morning person-a nicer person, even. That’s what you have to do when you have a full-time job. The tips that I follow to turn my day around have helped me tremendously. So, I’m here to share the wealth. Here are 5 tips to turn your day around[/dropcap]

5 Tips to Turn Your Day Around

  1. Wake up at least 2 hours before you have to leave home. This works for me because it gives me time to relax and unwind before it is time to start getting ready. As a new mom, that is imperative because baby Jaxon is still asleep. So those couple of hours before chaos ensues is the ultimate me time.

  2. Drink Coffee. Coffee was placed on God’s green earth for a reason! I did not discover the wonders of coffee until after Jaxon was born. But, better late than never, right? A few minutes after I drink my coffee, I feel a spark of energy. (I’m pretty sure that’s the caffeine). Either way, I feel like I’m ready to conquer the day. 
  3. Eat a good breakfast. It’s no surprise that this made the list. But, it’s true. Going to work with a full tummy, or even eating breakfast once I make it to work, has made me a better person in life. I mean, who wants to deal with a HANGRY (hungry/angry) Brittany? Get some food in my belly. We have been told our entire lives that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and it is true. Try it. You’ll see.
  4. Smile. Fake it ’til you make it! If you spend the morning fake smiling in peoples faces, I BET that by the end of the day, you’ll be in a genuinely happy mood. At first I’m like, then I’m like, then I just can’t contain my smile. 
  5. Take a nap. Studies have shown that taking short, 30-minute naps help boost productivity. I will go to my car during lunch, cut the air on low, and snooze away for a while. Don’t oversleep though…Here’s a story about why you should nap at work.
