Welcome to

[bigletter]This cute brunch outfit is from Charlotte Russe. My best friend turned 25 this past Sunday, so Marquis, Jax & traveled to celebrate with her! But let’s be honest, I never need a legit reason to go eat brunch. Brunchin’ is a habit. I paired the velvet, floral one-piece with my trusty high-waisted jeans, and a pair of black Jessica Simpson, closed-toe heeled sandals.[/bigletter]

[bigletter]Baby’s first Halloween did not go exactly as I envisioned it. Last night was, surprisingly, on another level. And I have the pictures to prove it.[/bigletter]

Baby’s First Halloween Recap

[bigletter]This past Saturday, the weather decided to drop to a very wonderful 55 degrees. You know what that means in Mississippi…BRING OUT THE SWEATERS, SCARVES, and BOOTS! Winter warmers such as sweaters, scarves, and boots are the perfect go-to when you need to layer. We are in that season where it is 50 degrees in the morning and 70 degrees by the afternoon. Sweaters can range from thin to chunky, short to long, while scarves can easily be taken off when it begins to warm up.[/bigletter]

[bigletter]Once my maternity leave came to an end, I flew out of the house and burnt rubber down the interstate to work. I was desperate to be back in an environment that was not all about the baby. About a month or so after I started this new journey as a working mother, I began to feel anxious, sad, and guilty. That is when I knew I was dealing with working mom guilt. How can I overcome working mom guilt? Here are 5 ways to battle it.[/bigletter]

5 Ways to Battle Working Mom Guilt

[bigletter]Feeding your infant in the first 12 months of their life seems to be nerve wrecking. How do you know what to feed them? How much? Can they chew things if they do not have teeth? Rest assured that there is a process that we followed, and I am here to help you. I will begin by talking about how we introduced solids into Jaxon’s diet, how we balanced feedings with nursing sessions, and how we meal prep for him now that he is almost 1 all while working full-time! The question of how to meal prep for your baby won’t seem so daunting after you read this post![/bigletter]

Working Mom Advice: Meal Prep for Your Baby

[bigletter]This past weekend our family had a blast! We decided to take Jaxon to the county fair. This time last year, I was at this very same fair basically 9 months pregnant, chowing down on funnel cake, cotton candy, chicken-on-a-stick, and everything in between. At the time, I had in my mind that Jaxon would not be old enough to go to the fair, but flash foward to a year later with Jaxon 11 months old, and here we are![/bigletter]

[bigletter]What happens when Black Twitter reacts too quickly? Here is my apology to Dove, for their recent advertisement that received a lot of backlash. Black Twitter, and the rest of the internet is always quick to jump to the defense on something that appears to be racist. Thanks to the internet, we have the voices and the spaces to feel free enough to let our grievances be known. We are able to let advertisers know when racism and lack of diversity will not be tolerated. What happens though, when we are so conditioned to react negatively, to something that is not actually negative? Do we feel bad? Do we apologize? I for one, feel the need to.[/bigletter]

My Apology to Dove: What Happens When Black Twitter Reacts too Quickly

Throwing a baby shower can be as easy as you make it, or as difficult as you make it. In my case, I took on the role of planning, decorating, and executing my own baby shower. With the help of my mom and best friend, we pulled off a very intimate, themed baby shower. The theme, Woodland Friends, is the perfect fall theme. Decorations are easy to find, and the possibilities are limitless. All of which can be done on a small budget!

Jaxon’s Woodland Friends: A Fall Baby Shower Theme

It has been 13 months since I *officially* graduated college, 10 months since I’ve given birth, and 13 months since I started my new job. Basically, an entire year since my life drastically changed. On the outside, I make it look like a breeze. I know this because people never hesitate to tell me how easy I make it all look. However, it is everything but. But, does anyone ever consider how I really might feel? I don’t want to self-diagnose myself with depression of any kind because I am not a professional. I do know, however, that there is something going on. Everyone knows about postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety. Therefore, I do not feel like I need to mention that in this post. But what about post-grad depression? What is it, and how do we as college graduates deal with it?

What is Post-Graduation Depression? How do we deal with it?

Blah, blah blah. We’ve heard it before. For SOME strange reason, people believe that less sleep equals success. But in actuality, it means the opposite. Every day, without fail, I feel completely drained half way through the work day. There is no set time when it occurs, and food is not always a factor. I WANT TO NAP. At this point in life, I greatly envy my child, and everyone in pre-K and Kindergarten because they get to have nap time. Dear God, forgive me for all of the times I took nap time for granted. Unfortunately, taking a nap at work is a no-no; or so it seems. As if we millennials want another reason to be seen as lazy. However, in my college days, if I was facing a pressing deadline, or really needed to study, I would take a nap first. I always woke up feeling refreshed, and I’d crank out A (or B) quality work. My productivity soars after a refreshing nap. The question is simple, how do we get around being able to nap at work? Well, my friends, I am here to tell you why you should nap at work.
