Welcome to

[bigletter]It’s National Best Friend Day! If you know me, then you know that I am a sucker for “National Days.”  It gives me the perfect excuse to celebrate silly, cool, or important things. For instance, getting donuts on National Donut Day, or buying my dogs treats for National Pet Day. I also petition for “National Put Money in Your Daughters Account Day.” *Hint* *Hint*, Mom. In honor of National Best Friend Day, I am dedicating this article to the best friends in my life.
With the hustle and bustle going on in our lives, we might not get the opportunity to tell our best friends “thank you.”  We might not get the opportunity to see them often, and we may even have to miss out on important events going on in each other’s lives. However, when the time comes, my friends are right there. I’m not talking about just the friends I have now or the friends I had in college or high school, but my DAY 1’s. Literally, and figuratively. I am the girl that can make friends very easily. But, I am also the girl that is extremely selective with who I consider a friend, and who I choose to share my personal life with.[/bigletter]

National Best Friend Day: 10 Reasons to Thank Your Best Friend

“If you want to know who your real friends are, have a baby.” This is what happens to friendships after pregnancy.

I hear this comment a lot. I have never said this myself, but I have seen other people make the comment on social media. However, I want to take the time to address it. I have had this discussion briefly with other mothers to get their opinion. My opinion is this: I do not totally agree with the comment. Apparently, women who get pregnant and have a child lose their friends in the process. They stop inviting mamas to go out, they do not text or call to check up on the mom or their baby, they do not show up to the baby shower, etc. I can only speak from the experience of a new mother, but allow me to explain why I disagree. And if you think I’m wrong, then this would be a good time to reevaluate a few friendships.

Friendships After Pregnancy: Real Friends, How Many Of Us Have Them?

[bigletter]This Easter was a special holiday, much like all of Jaxon’s “first holidays.” However, anytime Mommy and Daddy get to spend time with Jax together as a family is considered special. For those who don’t know, Dad attends school 5 hours away from us. Luckily, all of Jaxon’s big holidays were spent with both of his parents. For Easter, we took family photos. If you know anything about taking pictures with boys and men, then you KNOW how difficult it is to do.[/bigletter]

Easter 2017 Recap

[bigletter]Before I even became pregnant, I knew that I wanted to one day breastfeed. My immediate family is extremely small. Unfortunately, breastfeeding was not something any of us was familiar with. I saw, however, through social media how strong of a bond mothers had with their children while breastfeeding. So when my time came, I knew I had to try it. During my pregnancy, I had researched as much as I possibly could about breastfeeding. I spoke with my OB-GYN, and I even went to visit a lactation consultant. I knew the benefits, and also some risks. This is my breastfeeding story for the first 4 months of Jaxon’s life.[/bigletter]

My Breastfeeding Story – Months 1-4

[bigletter]When it comes to being a mother, our top priority is raising a healthy child. It is the sole reason why I chose to breastfeed. After seeing the bond my sister and nephew formed, I was sold. I also paid close attention to the health benefits of breastfeeding. All things considered, I was convinced that this was the best choice for my little boy. I found out that nursing your child is not only beneficial for your baby but for your body as well. I can also credit most of my “bounce-back” body to breastfeeding. So, allow me to tell you about my experience in breastfeeding, and then I’ll hit you with the facts.[/bigletter]
