Mother's Day Gifts

These Everyday Essentials are how I survive “Mom Life”

I’ve been a new mommy for almost six months now. If it weren’t for my top six everyday essentials, I would not make it through the day. These are essentials that I, as a mother, need on a daily basis. They are essential to life. Most “Mother’s Day Essentials” lists are uniform no matter where you do your research. Clothes, purses, jewelry, flowers, etc. As a new mom, all of those gifts would be lovely, but they are not what is going to get me through the day. If you’re wondering what to get a new mommy friend of yours for Mother’s Day, then here are a few suggestions:

  1. Tory Burch Perfume

One of my favorite Mother’s Day essentials is my Tory Burch rollerball perfume. I have two different Tory Burch scents. TheTory Burch perfume is a great Mother's Day Essential! signature Tory Burch scent is a bottle that I keep at home, and the Tory Burch Love Relentlessly is the rollerball that I keep for on the go. The rollerball is perfect to keep in my purse for when I’m out and about and I want an extra boost of “smell good,” or if I’m in a hurry in the morning, and I finish getting ready AFTER I’ve gotten to work. I got my bottle of Tory Burch straight from the website, and I purchased the rollerball from Sephora.

  2. Medela Breastfeeding Products

Of course, you can save hundreds of dollars a year if you breastfeed instead of formula feed. However, since I like things to be convenient, I purchase extra little breastfeeding goodies. Medela Breastfeeding Products help me get through the day which makes them a Mother's Day EssentialThe best breastfeeding product that I own is my Medela Double Electric Breast Pump. With it, you can pump both breasts simultaneously. I got mine free from my insurance, but you can purchase it at Target. I also have accessories that I use daily like the wipes to clean the parts, soap designed to wash them, nursing pads, and the Medela bustier also at Target. Besides the initial $200+ for an electric breast pump, most Medela products cost between $5-$20. So treat your breastfeeding friend to a Medela gift basket!

  3. Steve Madden Flats

Working at an advertising agency means dressing up every day.
Well, I can tell you Steve Madden Flatsright now that I am not at the point in my mom-hood where I have the energy to dress up on a daily basis. And heels? Out of the question. What saves me are my stylish and comfy Steve Madden flats. If I feel cute that morning and I slip on some heels, I always keep my backup flats in my car to change if I need to. You can find them at Nordstrom. I got mine on sale for $40

  4. iPhone 7 Plus

iPhone 7 PlusThere aren’t many people that can go a day without their cellphone. I feel lost without it. Even if it dies, I have to get to the nearest charger. I keep a charger in my desk at work, in my car, and at home. Therefore, one of my top Mother’s Day Essentials is my iPhone 7 Plus. I also love the dual camera feature, because it takes pictures better than any phone I’ve had in the past. And who’s going to take more photos of their kid than Mom?! I can’t survive Mom Life without it. If you want to splurge on your mom, then this is the way to go.

  5. Lilly Pulitzer Planner

Jaxon’s doctor’s appointments, networking events, meetings at work, travel plans, etc., I need to write it down! If I don’t write itLilly Pulitzer Planner down, I am guaranteed to forget. I call it a mixture of breastfeeding brain and just pure exhaustion. With one million-and-one things to do during the day, I have to credit my Lilly Pulitzer Planner for keeping me on track. Not only is it just a planner, but because I’m super girly, I love it because it is colorful, festive, and longer than the typical 12-month planner. You can purchase them from Amazon or any department store that sells the Lilly Pulitzer brand. That mom friend that’s always busy? This is for her! Take it a step further and get it monogrammed!

  6. Tidal Music Subscription

Seeing as how I travel everywhere with my little human, I encounter those times Beyonce is my #1 playlist on Tidalwhere he’s just in a downright CRANKY mood. Thanks to my Tidal music subscription, I can turn on lullabies or nursery rhymes and play them on the road, at home, or wherever I have my phone and it will calm him down (most of the time). I battled between Spotify, Apple Music, and Tidal before I finally decided on Tidal. Also, those long road trips and my morning commute to work would be difficult without some music to jam to. Because I signed up last year while I was still a student, I only have to pay $4.99 a month. And if you have not tried Tidal, just know, they have mixtapes, unlike Apple Music. And…..BEYONCE!

My Mother’s Day gift list seems quite nontraditional. But, as a millennial mommy, it is what I need to function on a daily basis. If you have a millennial mommy in your life, try to honor her this Mother’s Day with something useful, that will make her day go a little bit smoother. 😉
