Jaxon’s Woodland Friends: A Fall Baby Shower Theme
Woodland Critters, Fall Decor, and Close Friends
Just a short year ago, 20 of my closest friends and family members gathered to celebrate the arrival of Baby Jaxon. The evening was full of fun games, good food, and lots of laughs. I spent a lot of time during the summer prior looking for the perfect theme. I knew the party would be in late September-mid October, but I did not know where it would be, or how it would look. After hours upon of hours of searching, I settled on the perfect fall baby shower theme: Woodland Critters. The theme colors were olive green, white, gold, and nude.
Decor
I found a beautiful earthy photo booth on Pinterest and wanted to incorporate it into my decor. I had the one below custom built for really cheap.
The succulents were purchased at Lowes, and I rented the wood slabs and mason jar canisters from a local party rental business.
The gold table runners and white table linens were purchased at CVLinens.
I also purchased spandex chair covers, but they did not fit the chairs at my venue.
Games
We played a variety of games. The card games included the classics: “Celebrity Baby Names,” and “Who Knows Mommy Best,” while we incorporated a twist on the classic “What’s in Your Purse?” by playing “What’s in Your Phone?” The most fun we had were the games such as Diaper Derby, where you have a certain amount of time to use toilet paper to make a diaper, and “Guess that Baby Food” where everyone had to either taste or smell the jars of baby food and figure out the flavor.
Food
Our menu was not over-the-top, but it was just the right amount to feed 20 people. We did not have to cater, either. My family was nice enough to make everything.
The food menu featured:
- BBQ Meatballs
- Chicken Wings
- Pinwheels
- Buffalo Chicken Dip
- Spinach Dip
- Shrimp Cocktails
- Deviled Eggs
- Fresh Fruit
- Eggrolls (A guest brought them)
The dessert menu was my favorite:
- Cake
- Candied Apples
- Chocolate Covered Pretzels
- Cupcakes
- Chocolate Covered Strawberries
- Cookies
- Chocolate Covered Rice Krispy Treats
- Pralines
Naked cakes have become very popular in rustic, bohemian, and outdoor themes. Do not let the lack of icing fool you. It has enough moisture to keep you from missing an onslaught of icing.
Gifts
The gifts given away at the shower included personalized wine bottles, and mason jars filled with little shampoos, etc. Whoever won a game, got a gift! Below, is a diaper cake that a friend made for me.
Invitation, Cards, Etc.
The invitation was purchased via Etsy. I made all of the card games myself.
Even though this year has flown by, and I now have a sweet, strong, silly 10-month-old, I will never forget this event. I felt more love from friends and family members than I thought I could ever feel. Woodland Friends is the perfect Fall baby shower theme for anyone that is looking to keep it low budget, and intimate.
